Recently I realized it has been way over a month since I blogged any of the sessions I’ve shot recently. Life’s got the best of me lately and I’m just trying to get the sessions in and out as soon as I can, seldom stopping to post sneak peeks or blog. Today I want to share a super fun family session of my awesome friend Christina and her family. When planning Christina’s session we wanted to show what they love to do together and so Christina came up with the great idea to do a playground session followed by some time near water which is what they love to do together. I’ll be honest and admit I wasn’t quite sure how we were going to achieve this so I took to the road and began to explore locations near and far to find the perfect location for their session. Caspian and I came across the Prince William Forest Park just half an hour from our house, the park offers a beautiful scenic road, campgrounds, fishing, a pond, a little stream that runs under a bridge, and most importantly a playground to set the stage for our session.
The day of our session started a bit cloudy, we dried playground toys off with towels. Luke and Zoey already know me as the “camera lady” so they proceeded to try and pretend I was not there as they played with their parents and let me run around them capturing them and perhaps momentarily have them look at me for a ‘posed’ portrait. My favorite thing about this day had to be that Luke opened up to me, he showed me his acrobatic moves which both terrified and impressed me. I love the images of them just being themselves, giggling, snuggling or just being silly. It began to rain during our session but this wonderful family did not let this bother them, we brought out the umbrella to cover the camera finished off the session. Unfortunately the stream was over flooded due to the recent rain in Virginia but it only means I get to see them in front of my camera again soon. Thanks so much Stephenson family for being such amazing friends and sharing these memories with me! xo
